IIT – Sun Damage
Years ago before we all became horrified at what the sun was doing to our skin (the same skin we bathed in mineral oil and then exposed to the glorious rays) my husband, the future dermatologist, was practicing skin safety.
We would go to the beach in South Carolina where we were stationed with the Navy. There I would be in a bathing suit quietly saying “tan me tan me” while he had on a full hat, sun glasses, long sleeved shirt, long pant, socks and shoes.
Funny thing is I never burn, just tan, and have minimal skin damage yet his poor beaten up by the sun skin deserves its own story in the Journal of Dermatology. He blames it on being on a tractor on his family’s farm. I am thinking more about our DNA.
